Her mother came from Mombasa. One day she got Molly ready, telling her they were going on a trip. Of course, like all children, Molly was very excited as they got on the bus and set off on a very long journey.
They went first to Nairobi then on to Malaba, a border town to Uganda. Getting off the bus Mum told Molly to sit at the side of the road while she looked for somewhere to stay. Many hours passed and her mother did not return. Eventually Molly was picked up by police and brought to “Sunbeam.”
Her mother had got on another bus and returned to Mombasa. Her actions were deliberate; she had no further use for Molly. Molly is a quiet little girl, around 6 years old. Unfortunately, she has a slight disability in walking and the use of her left arm. We also discovered that she has a learning disability, but she has settled into life in Sunbeam and with extra help is doing well at school
