“And let us not grow Weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not”. Galatians Ch 6 v 9
The year of 2020 has had its ups and downs due to my Mum’s health, it has been very unsettling. You may be aware I had to rush home in May and I remained in Belfast until 14th September. When I arrived back in Kenya there was so much to do in a short time, but I felt a real peace that God was in control and everything would be in order when I needed to leave. All the children were well and there were no serious issues to deal with. At Sunbeam our numbers had increased to 52; this meant some reorganising of dormitories and beds.
I told God back in 2008 to bring any new children to the home as I would not go out looking for them. Over the years that is exactly what has happened, so I know if God brought them He will take care of them.
In about 8 weeks God has provided and enabled us to do amazing things. We needed to raise the standard of hygiene within the home, so we tiled and painted both dormitories, making cleaning much easier; this was all paid for because of generous donations from Northern Ireland.
Our next priority was the renovation of the Life Centre, our temporary school. Kenya schools are closed due to the current situation, so this was an ideal time to carry out this much needed work. Starting the work was a major step of faith, thanks to our God the building work is now complete giving us 8 extended classrooms each with their own door and a veranda all around the building.
Our new completed classrooms are being used by standard 4 pupils who have returned to school for assessment purposes.
We still have electrical work, painting and tiling in the Life Centre and new schoolroom which are both functional; we plan to complete the work by January before school starts. Our next priorities are to tile the main recreation room, the small play area and medical room, so we are trusting God for £2000 to finish these two important projects.
Our new manager Cleophas has settled well and doing a great job with the assistance of Albert and Protus, a Kenyan board member and former manager and a great supporter of KSM.
Looking ahead.
These are uncertain days due to the pandemic, when one needs to be certain of the God’s plan and purpose that He has for KSM Kenya. It is time to walk out in our faith not just talk about it. I have found from past experiences God only acts when we take the first step of faith.
We have outlined our modernisation programme and the £2000 needed; Children will require things for the newschool year costing about £500, this is our immediate focus. Next year, we aim to build and equip the threeadditional classrooms costing around £15,000. This will make our school work more effective. God has his hand onthe work of Kenya Sunbeam Ministries and wants to bless every child under our care.
We have children needing sponsors; Please contact our new coordinator Rosamond Cox, if you or any of your friends can sponsor a child. Our email address is
